In one week I will be on a plane to Madrid Barajas airport and then on a bus to beautiful Salamanca Spain!! For those of you who do not know, Salamanca is in the province of Castilla y Leon(I've included a map of Spain at the end of this post). Salamanca is home to the oldest and one of the best universities in Spain: Universidad de Salamanca. Fortunately, I will be taking classes there alongside the locals! Last week I received my visa in the mail as well as my host family assignment. I will be living with a 64 year old woman and her husband about 10-15 minutes walking distance from the Plaza Mayor. They have a son who I believe is around 40 but he lives elsewhere in the city and visits occasionally. I'm excited to meet them and talk with them and share information about Chicago, Libertyville, and MU.
I can not believe how time has flown this summer. In May I thought "ohmigosh I have three months left?! I have so much time to get all this stuff done!" While I have gotten a lot of stuff done...there's still a lot left. Given that I'm leaving in a week you would think I would've started to pack by now or at least have finished my packing list. Well, you'd be thinking wrong. I took a look at my list of things to do today and crossed off about half but that other half looks rather intimidating: the least of my worries being "exchange $200 in cash" and "Call credit card companies"... never mind the bullet point that says "PACK!!" oops...wish me luck!
