A weekend in Andalucía: Seville and Granada

Hola a todos!
Last weekend I spent Friday-Sunday with IES in Andalucía. We left at 7:30 am from Salamanca and arrived in Seville early afternoon to check into the hotel and then have some free time after a quick tour around the city.

This sign was all over Sevilla
The last picture has a symbol that was all over Seville and has a ball of yarn in the middle. The word for yarn is "madeja"so when the letters and symbol are put together it says "no-madeja-do". If said quickly it sounds like "no me ha dejado". Legend has it this is what King Alfonso said about Seville when Seville remained loyal to him during a fight over territory with his son.

After Seville we headed over to Granada to visit the Alahambra and tour the city on our own time before meeting to tour the old moorish town from 1013, Albayzín and see a flamenco show.

Lots of gardens...

...and water because with all the shade, plants, and water it lowers the temperature about 8 degrees which is useful in the hot andalusian summers.

This is said to be the prettiest place in the Alhambra just because the reflection and the sound of the water from the fountain.

Albayzín

Had to take a picture :p

In the morning we all dragged ourselves onto the bus to start the 10 hour trip back (including stops and such so about 8 hours driving) There's a law that says for every road trip the driver has to stop atleast every 2 hours. One of our stops was in Consuegra where we saw the windmills that don Quijote fought!

Adios a todos! New blog post coming soon about my trip to Lisbon, Portugal this weekend =]
